Mother's Day is the time of year when we all rush out and buy flowers and a mushy pink card for our mothers. I followed this tradition. But I have to say, that for some reason, this year, it meant so much more to me.

I feel like now that I am an "adult" that I relate to my mother, not just as the woman who put a band aid on my cuts, but a powerful and independent woman, from whom I can learn so much. And when I started thinking about what my mother has taught me about being a good student, and a dedicated person, I also started thinking about what she has taught me about being a mother and wife.

I am excited to see what my friendship with my mother will teach me in the future.

I love you mom. And I am the best person I could be because you and our family!

I am also so thankful for how blessed my family is - Jackie and I both have jobs, our parents are all in relatively good health. I think this year is going to be good.

Theatre Banquet 2010

Last night was the UT Arlington 2009-2010 Theatre Banquet. I thought it went beautifully. I had no idea what I was doing, but because of the amazing and passionate people that I live/work/study with, everything came together like magic.

5 people got together, with leadership from our faculty advisor, and pulled off what I have been told was one of the best banquets yet.

The live ScoShow was beautiful and expressive and exactly what we all needed last night. The awards went to most deserving people. All except one.

Yes I work hard for my department. I love my department. And as thankful as I am for winning the Bragg Award, Lisa Marie deserves so much for what she does for all of us. This banquet would have been nothing without her. Our department would be lost! There aren't enough words to express how awesome and talented and amazing she is, so I will stop there.

Lisa Marie, you deserve so much. And next year, I will make SURE you win that award!

I love you all!

Support MS with Chick-Fil-A

Hello Bloggers!

Today at the Chick-Fil-A on South Cooper, past 20, 20% of what you pay goes to help support MS research! Just mention it to the cashier and they will help you out! And who doesn't like Chick-Fil-A!

My problem is that I only ever really really want chick-fil-a on Sundays. And while that is one of their best qualities as a fast food restaurant, it is really frustrating!

so is spelling the word restaurant.

Rock Band Blues

Okay, so thanks to my awesome best friend Wesley, I have some ideas for blogs, so I am going to try a new one!

Boy Jackie works at the Cheesecake Factory. And while they are open everyday starting at around 11 am, he only works during the weekends and usually only at night. So I spend most of my weekends alone in our apartment, really the only time I spend in my apartment, doing laundry or dishes, sometimes doing homework, and just general lounging around.

So, in order to break the monotony of lounging, I try to find fun things to do around the house. Today I made a power point presentation for Jackie when he gets home. It has a list of everything I did today with pictures taken from my computer and a Ben Folds song playing in the background.

I used to fill the house with people and beer on Saturday nights so that we could have a late night party, but I really haven't done that in a while. So today, I decided that I would set up the house so we could have our own little late night party. And for us, that is Rock Band.

Unfortunately, after setting up all the pieces and trying for over 2 hours to hook it all up, It still would not connect, nor could I find the CD. So now that Jackie is on his way home, Rock Band is sitting in my living room, unfinished, and the CD is somewhere in our apartment. I have no idea what I am doing...

1 of 4 Jackies

I am 1 of 4 Jackies. My boyfriend, his father, and his grandmother, are all named Jackie. Seems fun, but everyone's favorite game at family functions is to shout "Jackie" while holding a camera to get a picture of all the Jackies. My dad is notorious for this.

I've never blogged before, so this will probably start pretty slow, but I will do my best.

Lets see. A little about me, I'm a theatre arts major at UT Arlington. I work summers at a corporate "theater" company in Dallas called zoom.7 and I am dating an awesome guy who shares the same name as me!

I guess that is all for now. I will work on being creative. And maybe I will try to post a picture, but I cant make any promises.
